Special Note About Out-of-Network CareNielsen offers its employees a choice of health plans that allow you to decide whether to receive care from an in-network or out-of-network doctor or facility. Typically, you pay more money when you receive care from an out-of-network provider or facility. In some cases, the additional cost is quite significant. Whenever possible, you should receive care from in-network providers, because they have met and continue to meet stringent criteria set by United Healthcare. Receiving care from in-network providers will not only save you money when you receive the care, it will also help control the company’s and your own healthcare costs. If you choose to have medical care performed by an out-of-network provider, out-of-network benefit levels apply. UHC calculates out-of-network (non-participating) providers’ allowable amounts based on Medicare limits. If you receive medical care from an out-of-network provider, you will be responsible for paying your deductible, your specified coinsurance percentage amount, as well as 100% of any amount that exceeds the UHC limit. To locate a network provider, you should consult the provider directory, which is available at https://www.myuhc.com/.

It’s not always easy to do the right thing, even when we know it’s the right thing to do. Think of preventive care this way, though.
